Welcome to the Perception Laboratory's Face Transformer.

You can use the Perception Laboratory's Face Transformer to change the age, race or sex of a facial image, to transform it to the style of a famous artist, to make an exagerated caricature or even make an ape of yourself!

Upload and Play

You will need to have a digital facial image (similar to the face in the centre above) in Jpeg or Gif format and a Java enabled browser.

For best results you should use a "passport-style" image of the subject facing the camera with the mouth closed and a neutral expression.

You can use any size image, but it will be rescaled to fit in a 640 by 480 pixel window and so this is the recommended resolution.

Problems and Suggestions

Make sure you check the security settings of your browser to make sure java is enabled, and that you are not behind a firewall, which will cause problems with the delineation and output of images.

If the demos are working but not when you put your own image in then you need to download the plugin for java for your browser from www.java.com via the "free download" link.

If you encounter any problems, or have any other questions or suggestions, please contact us via email to bpt at aber dot ac dot uk or using this form.

If you are reporting a problem, please state the nature of the problem and the name and version of the web browser you are using.
