4. WARPING to the STANDARD FACE

To create average images (or transforms) you need to create the same mesh structure for all the images you are going to use. This is done by warping all images to one image`s structure (i.e. warp to what we call the ‘standard face’). The ‘standard face’ is located in a folder called ‘standard face’ along with its ‘.t3d’ template file.

SINGLE WARP

For a small number of images:

1.Open the standard image (.obj) & load its corresponding template (.t3d)

Note: when opening images (.obj) Morphanalyser tends to leave the template (.t3d) of the previous image displayed. To be sure you are working with the right template (.t3d) open the corresponding template every time you open a new image (.obj).

2.In older versions tick "Warp3D Split Texture" in the "File" menu (to avoid creating warps with 'broken' texture).

3.Select "Warp3D" from the "Edit" menu. MorphAnalyser will prompt you to Select another image (.obj) & its corresponding template (.t3d) to warp the first image to.

4.Do that and the warped image should appear after a while (~ 1 min).

5.Save the warped image (.obj) in a new folder.

6.Repeat this process until you have warped the first image with all the other ones from your selected set.

BATCH WARP

For a large number of images:

1.Create a notepad file (.txt) with a list of images to be warped, e.g.:

"1790.obj"

"2051.obj"

"2053.obj"

"2068.obj"

Note: The " " are needed if the file name starts with a number or contains a space. Otherwise the " " are not necessary. 2.Save it in the same folder where to-be-warped images are located (the (.jpg) and (.t3d) files of each image should be in the folder with the same name as the (.obj) file), e.g.:

1790.obj

1790.jpg

1790.t3d

(Note: the .obj files in relation to the list file can also be located in folders beneath the one where the list file is. In this case you would have to indicate the location (i.e., folders) where the images are located in relation to the list file:

Foldernamefilename

e.g. "3D_male_facesm_1225_happy.obj"

Again, put " " around file names if they start with a number.)

3.Open the standard image (.obj) & load its corresponding template (.t3d).

4.In older versions tick "Warp3D Split Texture" in the "File" menu (to avoid creating warped images with 'broken' texture). If the texture has been remapped to a single texture this is not needed.

5.Select "Warp3D" from the "Edit" menu. Morphanalyser will promt you to select a text file (.txt)

6.Select the file you created.

7.Morphanalyser will then promt you to select an "output directory", i.e., location where to save warped images. Select one.

8.Morphanalyser will warp all the images in the set automatically creating image files with appended "_warped" for (.jpg), (.obj) and (.t3d) in the folder/location where you indicated.
